Rain, Flowers & Food

Kilometres walked: 12

Friday 3rd March, 2023

A seemingly typical Singapore day. Rain, rain and just a bit more rain. It certainly didn’t deter us though. After a long slow stroll around Fort Canning Park, meeting fellow Aussies along the way, we then ventured to Lau Pa Sat Hawker market for the best food yet. So many intense and delicious smells in one small space. After not really knowing quite what we ate the night before ( we woke up feeling fine ) we opted for vegetarian again. So yummy we also bought takeout for dinner. Definitely our favourite hawker market.

Singapore do gardens extremely well. It’s a concrete jungle completely covered in greenery. Every available space is taken up with pot plants, wall gardens and garden beds. Of course the required rainfall is definitely in their favour.

Hello World, here we come!

Kilometres walked: Wednesday – 7.5, Thursday – 15

Thursday March 2nd, 2023.

Yesterday we started our worldly 6 month adventure. After leaving a beautiful Brisbane morning at 9.10am, we arrived safely into steamy Singapore. After checking into to our hotel for the next 3 nights, we set off for a long stroll down to the marina and stopped off at Clarke Quay for a nice cold Tiger beer and an early dinner on the way back.

After an early night and a slight sleep in, we headed off to explore Gardens by the bay before the crowds came out. Beautiful big blue skies and sultry weather made for a lovely walk under the canopy of the trees and amazing gardens. Once the hoards from the cruise ship arrived we got out of there quick smart! After a stroll around the opulent Marina Bay Sands we finally found our way to the Maxwell Hawker Food Markets. Yummy and cheap👌 we would like to believe the chicken is actually chicken, so we went vegetarian 😂 We made it back to our hotel before the mid afternoon on cue rains started.
