The Bronze Age…

Rainfall this week : 26.5mm

Bronze is the traditional and the modern gift for a married couples 19th Wedding Anniversary. According to google, Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin symbolising strength, warmth and two lives blended into an enduring bond. Isn’t that just lovely❤️. Every year we always endeavour to find an appropriate gift for the anniversary year. It’s become a bit of a game now as we also try to find that particular gift at an op shop, road side pick up or Facebook marketplace. The cheaper the better🤣. Last year was Porcelain, and we found a lovely little German porcelain dish for $3 at the local op shop, winning✔️. One year was glass and we found a set of Italian Bormioli wine glasses at the op shop in Walcha for $3 (still in the box) 👏. Another year was furniture (yes furniture) and we managed to find a cute little nest of three tables for free from Facebook Marketplace. So generally we have no trouble finding the appropriate gift. Bronze on the other hand, well that has been slightly more difficult to find. (Well from the op shop anyway) Whilst we didn’t necessarily need to purchase an actual object made from solid bronze ( Bronze coloured finishes would suffice ) I still really wanted to try🤔.

Searching high and low through the local op shops, I came out empty handed. Instead I had to settle for a nice bottle of Tasmanian Bubbles with a sort of bronze colour in the label🤪. And I also managed to find some yummy chocolates with bronze colouring in the packaging😋.

🥂🥂🥂

We have a shop here in town called ‘Make It Tenterfield’ where lots of locals sell their handmade goodies, with items ranging from woodwork, pickles, knitted items, jewellery and soaps etc. I decided to have a quick browse in there not really expecting to find anything bronze but what I did find was a beautiful suede tote bag made by Marie that as Jason pointed out has some brass pieces on it so we figure that comes close to bronze in colour also. (And I did purchase Jason two books by a local Author about Captain Thunderbolt, so it wasn’t all about me😜)

Anniversary sunset in the construction site🍾

We did receive another present on Tuesday and I do think it’s sort of a bronze tone at least. Trend delivered our doors and windows which are Colourbond Woodland Grey ( the same colour as the house and shed ). They look fantastic and we are so happy we went with Trend again. I’m also really pleased Jason insisted we should have a glass door in our ensuite instead of just a window. It looks great and it will be so good to be able to walk straight outside to the future spa and sauna which will be in the garden near our bedroom and ensuite. 👏

👌
Safe & snug…
We are running out of storage space 🥴…

Shedding was back on for one day only. Yay👏. Determined to start getting the roof on the shed, we started the day with little wind. But you know what happens here, after the second sheet was installed, Mr Westerly decided to drop in and say hello💨🥴. We battled through the rest of the day hanging on for dear life, cursing the bloody wind and finally made it through to the other side about 7.30pm. Jason had to finish screwing the bottom row down with his head torch on 😳. Admittedly we did have a coffee and cake break mid afternoon for an hour with Brok which was exactly what we needed to keep going for the rest of the day. (Thanks for calling in Brok, you saved our lives😊)

Getting there…

The Northern gable of the house is complete now also. Just a little more strapping on the front of the house and the cyclone strapping on the roof to go👏.

More progress…

With a day trip to Warwick, Jason going to work for his actual day job (he did some plumbing 😜) and more progress around the place, the week has quickly disappeared. Another rain day earlier in the week saw us receive some more lovely rain. It’s just so good to see everything looking so green and to see all the creeks and rivers flowing again is amazing. Even the Severn River in Stanthorpe was looking fantastic yesterday. The farmers are happier, the stock are happier and the wildlife are happier. Not so sure the Wethers were overly happy about being naked on their way past this afternoon though😆🐏. ( A wether is a castrated male sheep for those of you who hadn’t known) Don’t worry I didn’t know any of this when we first moved here and have been quickly corrected and educated by all of the neighbors 🤣. I’m always learning.

Reg and the boys…
They look so funny when they are shorn…
